Garden Design Magazine takes an in-depth look at five Hollander Design projects to define the firm’s ‘ecology of style.’

“In 1991 Hollander launched his own firm with partner Maryanne Connelly. Now, 25 years later, the New York City-based Hollander Design has 80 projects under way all over the world. Hollander’s strength (and that of the firm) is still plant expertise. “I bring a little bit of plant knowledge to projects-35 years of studying plants, 35 years of growing plants, 35 years of killing plants,” he says with a smile. His interest in ecology also drives his designs. “Soils and landscapes are living things,” he stresses. ‘All the way down to the bedrock, it’s all a living system.'”
