COUNTRY CLASSIC wins THE acanthus AWARD in LANDSCAPE DESIGN
The Acanthus Award, bestowed by the Midwest chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, recognizes excellence in classical and vernacular design.
Ordered, but not overly formal, the landscape at Country Classic, like the architecture of classic white-shingle façade and sloping gambrel roofs, relies on traditional forms and relationships to organize and define space.
While the architectural elements in the landscape – like pergolas, outdoor fireplace, and gates – relate directly to the traditional architectural style of the house, the landscape planting palette has a ‘beachy’ feel – it’s soft and inviting, natural and low maintenance. Guests can flow easily from one space to another.
We were honored to work with Ferguson & Shamamian Architects and Victoria Hagan to create this beautiful home, which is featured in our upcoming book, The Landscape of Home, with Rizzoli in March 2024.
