OUR WORK

Hollander Design Landscape Architects designs finely-crafted landscapes at every scale from the Hamptons to Hong Kong. We work with homeowners and architects, developers and institutions to design a rich diversity of project types, from country estates and campuses to luxury multifamily and hospitality.

OUR APPROACH

In every design, we respect the natural, architectural, and human ecologies unique to each place in the world. We believe attention to each creates enduring, beautiful places that become fulfilling expressions of "home".

WHO WE ARE

For more than 30 years, we have collaborated with the best and brightest architectural and interior designers of our time. Founded by Edmund Hollander and Maryanne Connelly, the firm operates out of New York City, the Hamptons, and Chicago.  Our residential, urban, institutional, commercial and international teams work under the guidance of Edmund Hollander and three firm partners, Geoffrey Valentino, Melissa Reavis, and Stephen Eich.

MEET THE TEAM

OUR STORY

Edmund Hollander and Maryanne Connelly met over a pencil sketch and a reference book on plants. They quickly discovered they shared a compelling, holistic approach to landscape design and created an award-winning firm that dovetails a love of design with an abiding passion for horticulture.

The Landscape of Home
Available March 2024

The Landscape of Home presents homes in the countryside, along the coast, and in town—and features a rich diversity of projects, from country estates to rooftop gardens. In it, we discuss the essential elements in the firm’s work: the importance of the procession of entry to a house, as well as its context in the landscape; the positioning of plant life and trees; the way people move into and through a property; and the way a garden looks and changes through the seasons.

“Ed paints with the palette of the plants and sculpts with the forms of trees and shrubs…the gardens he creates seem in total harmony with the house and the land.”
—Bunny Williams, Foreword, The Landscape of Home
